TOYOTA LAND CRUISER

Gary finally took the top off of the TLC today, I guess the hottest day of the year -(I heard it was going to be 103 today) is a good time. We used to take the TLC to the hills all the time but, not so much now- The ATVs are now the vehicles of choice. I guess that means the land cruiser is in semi-retirement. She doesn't look too bad for 42 years. Gary loves his TLC.

THE CARWELL'S

David and Patricia Carwell came for a visit today. David and Patricia are serving the Lord with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Port-au-Prince Haiti. The MAF headquarters moved from CA to Nampa Idaho. Which means the Pilots will spend time in Nampa at the beginning of their furlow, which is lucky for us now we will get to see them more often. When Gary goes to Haiti to do volunteer work on the planes he stays with the Carwell's. I met David 10 years ago, but this was my first chance to meet Patricia. However I felt like I knew her from reading David's blog. She is a very sweet girl. Gary took David on a ATV ride down the ditch bank and Patricia and I picked a few cherries, a few--because there just isn't very many and they weren't very ripe. but they were still pretty good. We had lunch out on the patio and had a good visit. The pictures are from Gary's last trip to Haiti. I just can't seem to remember to get the camera out. Shame on me.
By the way-- David is the person who got me hooked on BLOGS. His was my first. I really enjoy reading about Haiti and the Carwell's life on the mission field.

this and that

I am so ready for tomorrow, FRIDAY. Last week I helped with a picture display that the company used at a truck show on Saturday. I had taken pictures of some of the trucks and equipment last fall, so we (Jacq) and I needed to pick the right pictures, print them and then I needed to trim the pictures and put them on card stock, and put velcro on the back. All that put me so far behind that I spent all this week catching up.

Someone has Cherries, cause we can hear the noise makers going off about every 30 seconds. They are supposed to keep the birds from eating all the cherries.

The insurance is sending a check tomorrow to cover the wrecked ATV. Gary is in a better mood now. My dad bought the wrecked ATV, he wants to restore it.

I think Gary is picking up the new ATV tomorrow. And hopefully we will ride the ATV's to Silver City, Idaho, on Saturday. I haven't been for a ride for a long time. I'm looking forward to it.

60% Chance

The Wedeking baby. The ultra sound tech said she thinks the baby is a girl. But she is only 60% sure. I think she looks just like Emily and Hadley did at this age :)

Not a good year for Cherries

Cherries - picture taken 6/24/2006
Cherries- Picture taken 6/15/2008---there are a few trees that have cherries clusters that look like this. But...

most of the trees have Cherries that looks like these two photos, also taken 6/15/2008

Our neighbor owns a "you pick cherrie orchard", and lucky for us it's right out our back door and they tell us to help ourselves. But this spring was cold, there were many nights that it got below freezing, and if that didn' t get them, the fact that it was so cold the bees didn't come out of the hives to pollinate.

GARY'S BAD DAY

Last week we bought a used ATV, it had a few issues so Gary took it back to see if they could fix them. They fixed it,............. by selling him a new Polaris 500. It looks just like our other ATV, except it is a one place instead of a 2 place. We drove it down the ditch bank, put 8 miles on it. Then Gary and Mike-our son-in-law and some friends packed the 4 wheelers for an over night camp trip. The plan was to ride the ATVs to Atlanta and they would spend the night and drive out the next day. BUT..............the plans changed when the brand new ATV with 8 miles--- fell off the trailer. The guys were saying how many times they checked the tie downs, everytime they stopped. I guess it was a freak thing. They had to drive down the road a ways to find a place to turn around, when they got back to the ATV a car had stopped. They were looking for the driver. They thought someone had road it off the side of the mountain. Gary is just sick.

Guess What We Did Today

Yep, we went out on the ATV'S. We bought another Polaris. It's used but has only 450 miles on it. I was saving money for a trip to Peru, but we really have fun on the 4 wheelers. Besides it's fun to invite people to go with us, and now we have an extra ATV. I enjoy riding behind Gary on our first ATV, it's built for two people. I like looking at the beautiful scenery, looking for deer and pretty rocks. Gary lets me drive whenever I want, in fact he encourges me to drive. I just get freaked out, I don't know what to do when I come to a big rut, some of them look like the grand canyon, do I go left, right, straddle the rut. I also hate when I have to side hill it, when I would come to a difficult (to me) part of the road, I'd get off. But today we took both of the ATV's and I had to drive the whole way, (35 miles) we picked a road that wasn't very hard, with just a few ruts, I did fine. It was cold, and windy, but we had coats. The desert was beautiful the grass was green, wild flowers blooming - yellow, blue, purple, pink, and the red Mormon crickets covered the road, they were a little icky. You will have to take my word for it, I didn't bring my camera.http://www.newscientist.com/channel/life/dn8781-march-of-the-mormon-cricket-cannibals.html

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICOLE

Yesterday-June 5th was my daughter-in-law's birthday. But I got the present. John, Nicole and Hadley came to Idaho for their 10 year class reunion, and they brought all of their stuff. They are moving back, YEAH. John has a few more weeks to serve before he's out of the Army, so he will go back to Montana and finish up. Nicole and Hadley will stay at her mom's house until John gets back and they can find a home, and a job. Last night I was able to have Hadley for the night, I was a little nervous, because I wasn't sure how she would act, I didn't think she would know me, I haven't seen her since November, and that doesn't really count. We were so sad because of the funeral. Anyway Nicole and John have done such a great job of showing Hadley pictures and telling her about the family in Idaho that she didn't have a bit of a problem. I invited Emily and Tucker to join our slumber party, thinking that having kids would help her not be afraid. We had a great time, I let them stay up too late, but that is what grandmas do. This morning I could tell the kids were tired so I put a movie in and gave the kids blankets and pillows, somehow Hadley fell off the sofa and bumped her head on the coffee table and now has a nice bruise to show for her visit--(sorry Nicole and John). Hadley cried for about 3 seconds and said I bonked my head, then she was ready to watch the movie. She did fall a sleep for a much needed nap. I loved having the kids and can't wait to do it again.

IT RAINED....... A LOT

Muddy water.......

Our shop flooded again..... I've suggested sand bags. The first time we flooded, (that time the whole shop had 2 inches of water) then I mentioned them the 2nd time we flooded. I even mentioned them a few weeks ago.
